How to Verify an Automotive OE Cross-Reference Before Bulk Ordering

Verify an automotive OE cross-reference in four steps: identify the source and number type, match the complete vehicle or equipment application, compare the required specifications, and record sample approval with written confirmation. A number in a supplier title is not proof of fitment. Keep the reference unconfirmed if any check conflicts or supporting information is missing.
Record the Source and Number Type
Capture the original source URL or document, the exact field where the number appears, the supplier name and the verification date. Label each value as vehicle-maker OE, manufacturer part number, competitor reference or supplier SKU instead of treating every number as interchangeable.

Start with Official Catalog Sources
For filter references, the MANN-FILTER Online Catalog supports searches by vehicle, product, cross-reference and dimensions. The MAHLE Aftermarket Catalog provides links to its regional eCat. Select the relevant market, then retain the exact product result and application notes in your verification record.
These filter catalog entry points were checked on September 22, 2026; this does not verify any individual product match. For brakes and electronics, use vehicle-maker or relevant part-manufacturer technical data. A catalog entry describes that manufacturer's part; compare the quoted supplier part and sample separately before approval.
Use a Four-Step Approval Gate
- Match the buyer reference against at least one authoritative catalog or vehicle record.
- Compare the complete application data, not only the vehicle model name.
- Confirm dimensions and product-specific technical attributes.
- Approve a sample and retain the written cross-reference confirmation before bulk ordering.
Treat Conflicts as Unconfirmed
If the title, attribute table and application disagree, mark the reference as unconfirmed and request supporting documents. Use the 13717601868 air-filter checklist or 4238521 / P550900 separator checklist to collect product-specific details; neither listing replaces a verified application and sample record.
Keep a Written OE Verification Record
Complete one worksheet per reference. Save OE and part numbers as text to preserve leading zeros. Record the actual date each source was checked; the form version date is not a product verification date. Keep unknown or conflicting checks pending until the application, specification, sample and written confirmation agree.
